This might get me cut but I figure, so threads like these can maybe stop for a while...

IF FF WERE RELEASED TODAY, WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE?

- Three maps are completely finished right now. This does not include third-party maps.
- Lua is not fully-integrated, so third-party maps would have a helluva time.
- Crashing a server right now is as easy as killing a Spy.
- Neither servers or clients are fully-optimized yet. "Full" 16-player servers would be unplayable.
- "Where's my weapon model?"

Basically, the game would suck as much as every other unfinished beta ever released for Source, maybe worse. It wouldn't build a community. Half of the people here would likely leave.

It's just... it's not done. Okay?

I'm sorry, on behalf of everyone even remotely involved in the game, past present and future, it's just. Not. Done.

this is the same mod that was aiming for a release by christmas 2k6, remember that :\/

So they underestimated the amount of time it took, it happens. Even with pros.

But wait, IT SUCKS BECAUSE THE GAMEPLAY VIDEOS ARE JUST HYPE AND THEY'RE RUINING TFC BECAUSE IT'S DIFFERENT AND THERE ARE NO GRENADES AND SCOUTS HAVE ATTACKING POWERS NOW AND WAH WAH WAH.

it's been 6 months since they estimated that it would be released in december, and that's all they have done as of now (6 months later), so yes, seems like a reasonable underestimation

what exactly is it D:? qw = quake world so it's based on the quake engine?

ps i can't click links because i'm at uni so don't link me to their probably highly flash-intensive site which will eat up my net account dollars in 10 seconds and require sound to work properly or something lol :<

ET:QW reminds me of BF2142 but much, much more kewler. From what I've seen of it so far anyway. I heard that it was pay2play, as in a monthly fee, but this is surely false, correct?

And on topic: Fortress Forever isn't commercial, they're not getting paid for it, so I don't see why time pressure should be placed onto them.

I would hate to see the FF teams efforts amount to a pitiful worldwide following, due to a lengthy dev time. The trick is money I guess, you pay the troops, and shit happens fast (unless it's valve)
