I think having a steady clan-based ladder would help heaps too. Someone step up!

We could have one if we could get enough teams lol
I would offer to help out though, although I doubt I have the experience to run one...

Places like NZF have to be geared up as support networks for clan leaders to a larger extent, and not to individual players as much.
Lack of teams is only from lack of leaders. As has been mentioned here, there is always a good amount of people wanting to step it up to comp play, but you need more people like the guy who started the mentoring teams like Whiskas/other catfood names I forgot sorry. The only other way for teams to survive long term, is if they have been around past the magic 6-12mth marker already, or have a past history of solid leadership like esm/214/sg/xg. I see teams like elektro and TFR moving up into this category as well. These are the teams that make up the core, the rest of NZF is usually in a state of flux, with player changes effecting small teams for good or bad, and this flux is the 50-50 factor that determines who carries on, and who falls, well that's how I see it. |

More on the conflicting inside politics. Didn't have anything to do with name rights did it? I'd assume someone somewhere is claiming some monetary rights for using the word...

It's more we never got the fucking thing finished, and around the time it was nearing completion the box got hacked and I put Solaris on like a dimwit (security reasons) and then couldn't run the fucking thing ever, but in the spirits of stirring shit up it's because I hate everyone.

OpenSolaris in fact
, was much easier to setup some of the virtualisation and backup stuff I wanted with ZFS and all that jazz than it was to fuck around with Debian. In the end though I made the WRONG CALL and have been paying for my horrendous decision ever since. |

Just need to wait for the next content patch to hit, it always picks up around then, even if its short lived. (often another player comes on board) And What is done is done frio, no point beating yourself up for it. *gives frio a man hug* You should just be proud about whats been done with the site, its really nice.
